Don't cry for me Argentina!

Finally left Iguazu

Well, I've finally left Argentina and am now staying in the capital of Paraguay, Asuncion. I arrived at the hostel at about 9pm last night. The journey was relatively uneventful and I slept for some of it. Our bus got caught in traffic so I walked the last mile or so to Ciudad Del Este (a border town between Argentina and Paraguay). To reach Paraguay you have to go through Brazil. I did not get an entry stamp into the country (Brazil) so when I got to the border I was told by the Brazilian official I had to walk the mile or so back to get one (only to then have to walk back to get an exit stamp!) Absolute madness! Fortunately, he eventually saw sense and let me through. Weirdly enough, the geographic border lines meant that I visited three countries within a space of about half an hour yesterday.

I have not got much to report really. I've only just taken a wander around the city centre. Seems quite impressive with some truly remarkable old, colonial architecture. I will try and post some pictures if I get the time. I had heard lots of bad things about the city from fellow travellers (people saying it was boring) but I am only here a night or two anyway. In all honesty, it seems okay to me. Much more South American than Argentina and far more indigenous people. I have noticed alot of Pölice about though! Not sure if they knew I was coming.....
